Saratoga Springs needs to address
the Public Safety infrastructure.

On January 1, 2006, his first day in office, Commissioner Kim formed the Public Safety Capital Construction Committee, chaired by Lew Benton.

The Public Safety Capital Construction Committee was asked to assess the infrastructure needs of the Police and Fire Departments, and issue reports, cost projections and recommendations to the City Council, in time for inclusion in the City's 2007 Capital Budget and Capital Program.

For the next 20 months, the Committee met weekly. These meetings were (with one exception) open to public attendance AND public comment.

On July 12, 2007 the Public Safety Capital Construction Committee presented a final Feasibility Study with recommendations for a new Police Facility and an eastside Fire and EMS Station.

The Committee is continuing to meet as this process moves forward.
